At an elevation of 11,500 feet, the air in Leh is remarkably pure but noticeably thin. As your caregivers, we strongly advise mindful acclimatization as the foundation of a safe journey.
The First 48 Hours:For guests arriving by air, complete rest for the first 24 to 48 hours is non-negotiable. Please avoid physical exertion, brisk walking, or long journeys initially. Allow the quiet luxury of our property to aid your transition.
Hydration is Essential: Drinking abundant water (at least 3 to 4 liters daily) is the most effective way to help your body adapt to the altitude.
Due to regional security regulations, prepaid SIM cards issued outside Ladakh will not function here.
Acquiring a Local SIM: If you require a local prepaid SIM, they are easily acquired in the Leh Main Market, just a short five-minute walk from our doors. You will need your physical Aadhaar Card or Passport for verification.
While the town of Leh and its immediate surroundings are open for your exploration, venturing into restricted border regions—such as Nubra Valley, Pangong Lake, and Tso Moriri—requires official Inner Line Permits (ILP).
Our Travel Desk will seamlessly arrange these for you upon arrival. Indian citizens may also apply online via the official LAHDC portal, while foreign nationals require a Protected Area Permit arranged through a local agent. Always carry multiple physical copies of your permits and your primary Government ID when traveling outside Leh.
The climate of this high-altitude desert is characterized by intense sunlight and freezing winds.
Layered Clothing: Temperatures fluctuate dramatically. Layered clothing, including a reliable windbreaker and thermals, is necessary even during the summer months.
Sun Protection: The sun’s intensity at this elevation demands respect. High-SPF sunscreen (SPF 50+), a wide-brimmed hat, UV-protective eyewear, and lip balm are daily necessities.
Footwear: Sturdy, comfortable walking shoes are indispensable for traversing ancient monastery steps and rugged landscapes.
The pristine beauty of Ladakh is a heritage we are sworn to protect. We ask our guests to join us in preserving this majestic ecosystem:
Conserving Water: In a desert ecosystem, water is our most precious resource. We deeply appreciate your mindfulness in conserving water during your stay.
A Plastic-Free Environment: Ladakh strictly prohibits single-use plastics. We encourage the use of reusable water bottles—which we are happy to refill—and ask that you avoid bringing plastic bags into the region.
Cultural Respect: The monasteries and local communities hold centuries of profound spiritual history. Please dress modestly and always seek permission before photographing locals or monks.
Our front desk is at your service 24 hours a day. Whether you require an extra blanket, travel advice, or simply a warm cup of tea, please let us know.
Wishing you a majestic and memorable stay at Singge Palace.
