At an elevation of 11,500 feet, the air in Leh is remarkably pure but noticeably thin. As your caregivers, we strongly advise mindful acclimatization as the foundation of a safe journey.
The First 48 Hours:For guests arriving by air, complete rest for the first 24 to 48 hours is non-negotiable. Please avoid physical exertion, brisk walking, or long journeys initially. Allow the quiet luxury of our property to aid your transition.
Hydration is Essential: Drinking abundant water (at least 3 to 4 liters daily) is the most effective way to help your body adapt to the altitude.
Due to regional security regulations, prepaid SIM cards issued outside Ladakh will not function here.
Acquiring a Local SIM: If you require a local prepaid SIM, they are easily acquired in the Leh Main Market, just a short five-minute walk from our doors. You will need your physical Aadhaar Card or Passport for verification.
While you are free to explore Leh town, travelling to any other tourist destination in Ladakh requires an official Inner Line Permit (ILP). There’s no need to worry about the paperwork our Travel Desk will seamlessly arrange your permits upon arrival so you can focus entirely on your experience. Please note that foreign nationals will need a Protected Area Permit arranged via a local agent. Whenever you head out on your excursions, remember to carry multiple physical copies of your permits along with your original Government ID.
The climate of this high-altitude desert is characterized by intense sunlight and freezing winds.
Layered Clothing: Temperatures fluctuate dramatically. Layered clothing, including a reliable windbreaker and thermals, is necessary even during the summer months.
Sun Protection: The sun’s intensity at this elevation demands respect. High-SPF sunscreen (SPF 50+), a wide-brimmed hat, UV-protective eyewear, and lip balm are daily necessities.
Footwear: Sturdy, comfortable walking shoes are indispensable for traversing ancient monastery steps and rugged landscapes.
